DOING THE WILL OF GOD TIM,OIC

DOING THE WILL OF GOD
Brother Tim, OIC

In John 15:10, Jesus says that He has kept His Father's commandments. He did this because He was always obedient to the Father's will. Jesus obeyed withot question. Hebrews 5;8 says that "Christ learned obedience throuigh the things He suffered.".
No matter what was happening around Him, Jesus was obedient to the voice of the Father. The LORD often "withdrew from the crowds to go pray." He desired intimacy with the Father, and was willing to do anything to have it. We see an example of intimate obedience in Luke 22. In v. 42, Jesus prays for the cup to pass, but ultimately He was "obedient unto death." (Phillipians 2:8). We see this submission because the heart of Christ was quickened by the Holy Spirit unto obedience.
How often do we pray, "God, Your will be done?" Do you really desire His will, or are those just empty words? Don't pray something if you don't mean it, and especially don't pray just for show.
Case and point: My mentor, John, was praying for the longest time for God to make him an intercessor. Well, God granted him his wish. Now, he gets woken up in the middle of the night and starts praying for people. Very rarely does he actually get to sleep throught the night. So, be careful what you pray. What's the use of praying empty words?
If you're serious about being conformed to the will of God in your life (Romans 12:2), don't play with with fire, i.e. touch wordly things that you shouldn't be touching. If you have touched things of the world, know that Christ's hands were pierced to cleanse you from those things that you've touched that you ought not to have touched. The blood flowed for YOU.
What is God's will for Chrtistians? In Matthew 6:10, Jesus is instrucing the disciples how to pray. He says, "Thy will be done on earth as is in heaven." In Heaven, there's no sickness, no pain, and no sin. God wants you to walk in vicotry, defeating the enemy, not letting him defeat you. 1 John 4:4 tells us that "Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world."
God will let you know HIs will for your life, but you have to be obedient and listen, just as Christ did. Ephesians 6:6 instructs us to do the will of God from the heart. How often do we turn our heart to worldly solutions, instead of turning to the One who is the Solution? God looks at the heart, and sees whether or not you're truly devoted to serving Him, or if its just for show.
In Acts 5:1-11, Annanais and Sapphira lie to the Holy Spirit and are struck down. Don't say that you're going to do the will of God, and then blatenly disobey Him. (lying to God.) If you want to do God's will, you have to be ready to accept it, no mattter what it is.
The importance of doing the will of God is demonstrated in Mark 3:21-35. Jesus' family is outside, and when He is informed of this, He simply says that they who do the will of the Father are His mothers and His brothers. To do God's will is to enter into an everlasting relationship with Christ. 1 John 2:17b: "He that doeth the will of God abideth forever."
Doing the will of God will bring blessings. Daniel chose to worship God no matter what. In Daniel 1:8, Danieal "purposes in his heart.". He didn't want wordly things, only the things that would welcome and increase the presence of God in his life
Galatians 6:7-8 tells us that we will reap what we sow. Eitheir you're going to r eap the blessings of God in your life because you've been obedient and faithful to Him, or you're going to reap destruction and death.

Proverbs 28:20 says, "A faithful man shall abound in blessing.".

Eddies Story!

Trusting in Jesus has proved to be the best experience of my life! Not only has he guided me spiritually, but he has blessed me physically as well. Im 18 yeas old, and left home after feeling that my parents couldn't care whether or not I lived or died (I had the key in my hand to get the gun and end my life, but my mom was to worried about me cleaning my room.) After I left home, I stayed with a friend in the "hood" here in Dothan, Alabama. During this time, I tried Heroin, LSD, Cocaine, Marijuana, and Alcohol to fill the empty gap.

Fortunately, I decided I didn't like the drugs, and left his house. being homeless I eventually had to eat something, and I can remember having to pull a maggot covered piece of chicken from a trashcan just to have a meal. then, one day, I walked by The Ark. I had heard that this place could help, so I joined. Bro James was in the lobby, and greeted me with a hug and called me brother! That was the first time in months I felt loved. Brother Woody even helped me overcome my depression through Christ! So here I am today, still in a shelter, but I have succeeded through Christ, in getting my GED, all of my IDs back, and am currently considering going to college to either become a Computer Technician or a Videogame Music Programmer. Jesus Christ is Lord!!!
